I've only had one dose of Taxol. It was easier. But for me, for about three days nonstop, I had bad menstral-like cramps. I could not find much relief. When this was done, it was replaced with joint pain. Tomorrow will be a week past the Taxol.

It sounds like the same regimen I had. I was also lucky and had minimal side effects to both the AC as well as the Taxol. My hair started, very slowly to grow back during taxol even. I am 4 weeks out of chemo and have my energy back to normal! I hope you continue avoid those side effects!

Hi Kim, I didn't have Taxotere/Taxol separately. I had it with AC. Unfortunately, though, my docs attributed most of my side effects to the Taxotere. I just felt really crummy. Flu-like symptoms with bone pain (which was also partially due to the Neulasta shots I got the day after chemo). I didn't have any real nausea and vomiting -- maybe twice. I also got some rashes and thrush. I sure don't mean to scare you, as this was my PERSONAL experience. You may sail through it. But of the three drugs -- A, C, and T -- T has the potential to give you more side effects. Just stay really hydrated and rest when you need to. Ask your docs for meds -- pain, nausea and vomiting -- as needed. No need to be miserable.

Kim,great news! You are on your way. Today, Friday, I just had my third taxol and so far so good. AC was much more difficult to me. I have a noticeable amount of improvement in my energy level and mental attitude. I hope the best for you. Everyone is different but keep a positive attitude that you are going to do well on taxol.

I had 4 A/C treatments and did "good"...having my 3rd taxol treatment tomorrow and do far do good. Some bone pain but tolerable. Having taxol every wk till the end of Aug. celebrate your "good" days and REST on your "not so good" days. Stay positive and prayers are being sent your way! FIGHT LIKE A GIRL!!! ;/)

Hi Kim, SO happy to hear you are halfway done with your chemo. I also didn't have much of a problem with the AC. I didn't have to have any more chemo. but hear many women can have less reaction to Taxol. We are all individual when is comes to having side effects. I just hope for your sake, the "chemo-gods" will be in your corner and things will be easy on you. Be sure you drink plenty of fluids. It is great to know you are this far along in your treatment. Hang in there, sister, we are all cheering for you. Big hugs and take care, Sharon

That seemss to be a good sign of things ahead. Go fight it like a girl, I agree. AC wasnt an issue for me up front as i took the expensive drugs for it. I was more hit with nausea and fatigue for the 2-3 weeks after. I had the "lucky side effects" (I even avoided reading the info so I wouldn't just get placebo effect. ) Neutropenic fever, bone pain, neuropathic pain, spent first 2 cycles in emerg a lot. But found meditation and I sailed through the 2 better than the first. I think you'll just sail through. Keep close eye on fevers though - they are an emergency on taxol....best to you strong woman!
