I am recovering from a bilateral mastectomy with reconstruction and am having a lot of pain with the expanders. Any suggestions?

I am right there with you. My surgery was one Month ago. No, nothing that I am aware of that we can do.

Be patient. It took a good month before mine didn't feel alien, and 2 months or more before I could sleep at least a little on my side. But I didn't get mine expanded before I started chemo, so i've had it easy so far.

Oh, and also find a physical therapist specializing in post/mastectomy exercises.

I had the worst pain with the expanders. So uncomfortable. I would go back n talk to the surgeon. Mine eventually had to be removed due to excessive scar tissue.

If your pain is more muscular try taking something like ibuprofen and if you can shower warm showers help especially after expansions. Remember to do your exercises those also help.
