No one knows what really causes cancer. If for some reason, this give family members someplace to point fingers and blame, you can't control what they think. Somehow cells become mutated and start go out of control in their growth pattern. It doesn't help to try to find a reason why you have cancer, guilt and kicking yourself does nothing to make you better. It only adds more stress. Instead of spending one more minute on why, put your energy into living a healthy life, get some exercise, and clean up your diet. Try to put something fun in each day, try to see the positive and the humor in your life. I have never laughed so much and had more fun as since I have had breast cancer. If you quit listening to family members critique, you won't have to worry about trying to make sense of it. It is what it is. Now, get through your treatment, and get on with living a good and productive life. Take care, Sharon

If working too much caused cancer, a whole lot more people would have it. Relaxation and a balanced life are a good thing, but working causing cancer ? I have never heard of that one. The stress here, is someone telling you that you brought cancer on yourself. No one can possibly know that, and it is extremely unhelpful to you, and very unkind. This is the time when you need support - not criticism. If possible, I would steer clear of anyone toxic enough to blame you for having cancer.
