Your Story

I am 44 years old, and on April 6, 2009 I had my very first mammogram. Then on April 13th I was told that I had breast cancer. Everything had happened so fast and how my life was going to change hadn't immediately hit me. Then I realized that I was going to have to tell my two, wonderful boys that I had cancer. That was the worst thing I've had to do in my life.

I went through 2 surgeries and 35 radiation treatments. I was informed that my cancer was Stage II, with one positive lymph node. Chemotherapy was recommended, but thanks to a low recurrence score I did not have to go through that. It's now been a little over a 2 years since my diagnosis and I'm optimistic and I feel empowered, wanting to do what I can to help put an end to this horrible disease.
