When does survivorship start? I've always used my date of diagnosis according to my Oncology personnel.

    cont.) I saw my Radiation people today for a one year followup and asked them. They said once treatment(s) is/are done so that throws me back 7 months but in saying that I was told you are a survivor from whatever date you use. My Christmas card reflects the day I got my diagnosis, oh well.

    I haven’t asked any of the doctors on my team, but I was going to use the date of my surgery as that was the day I became cancer free.

    As far as I have been told and I believe, every day since diagnosis counts. We have all been through the ringer so why short change ourselves. Just my thoughts!

    I’ve always heard that you are a survivor the day you are diagnosed. ;)

    I have been told by the nurses while going through Chemo it is the day you were diagnosed but I don't think that there is any "rule" as to what date you go by.
