I have first and second degree burns under my arm from 16 radiations for breast cancer. Radiation is not as bad as chemo but it is not without bad side effects either. I am in pain!

Hello Kaye, My doctor gave me Miaderm Radiation Relief lotion which is just for radiation and Mepilex Transfer pads to cover where the burns are on your skin! It worked well for me I hope it does the same for you!

I used Miaderm too. Just make sure you get enough for during and after radiation treatments are over. It took along time for my skin to heal after my treatments were done. Take care and I hope things get better for you.

Thanks! So far I am still in pain and have two "split open" places under my arm. Not fun!

I used aloe vera. It helped and prevented more burns

I finished my radiation this week and only had 16. My dr gave me a radiation burn cream and some purple stuff to put in the cracked opened places. I have been using Aquiphor for awhile now. It is soooo painful!

It's all cleared up now but I still have a LOT of soreness deep down under my arm...feels like a pulled muscle.

I finally healed on the outside and started taking tamoxifen and my breast is so sore I cannot even stand a bra I finished rads in may! I have hard sore places in my breast that are really tender. Just thankful that I am cancer free and alive. God is good!

Hi Kaye, I had a rough bout with the radiation as well. I did saline soaks when the skin began to break down and used tons of aquaphor. Eventually I spent about 10 days on a break from it and taking oxycodone for the pain. I promise you it will pass, but you are right the pain was way more than I expected. I lived in oversized shirts, it helped. Stay strong, it will be over soon, and you will feel better quickly. I hope all goes well!
