I use aquafor and I'm not burned nor show any major pinkness. Use it generously...tell her drink lots of water. Wear cotton and let her chest breath...don't keep it confined in heat or near stove. God bless.
I completed 30 radiation treatments mid-Dec..What helped me alot with burning, was something my oncologist recommended..1T white vinegar in 1 pint of warm water. Use for 15 minutes. Let air dry. It really helped me with the burning..also,I used aquaphor nightly, along with eucerin.
Maura, on the recommendation of my radiation oncology nurse I used Lubriderm lotion. I used it every chance I had, even at traffic lights when no one was looking my way. It worked very well because I never had burns and didn't get pink until week 6. On her recommendation I also used Tom's of Maine deodorant and Neutrogena soap. Bless you for being there for your sister!
I just finished 35 Rad treatments and used Aquaphor in morning and before bed. Make sure what ever she uses wash it off before going for treatment. I got really burned as well but no pain. The burn goes away right after treatments stop. I'm 3 weeks finished and my breast is back to its original color. Tell her to hang in there she's almost done.
Hands down Biofine. I barely burned and had 35 intensive radiation treatments I used it 3 times a day. It is a prescription. Other survivors told me about it and told me not to settle for anything else. I am so grateful I listened to them!
I guess I was really lucky. My doc said to keep my radiated breast clean and dry and I only got pink with a tan in my armpit and incision area. No bad burn.
Hi I had 30 treatment I used 100% Aloe ( clear ) got mine at hospital gift shop then went to bag balm then Neosporin hope this helps ya what ever is used make sure it is washed off before treatment
Maura,
The radiologist and technicians should have been advising about different kinds of lotions to use on her skin. I am really disappointed they haven't done so. I didn't have radiation but you WILL get lots of help here from many women who have gone through it. They have their favorites and will let you know. Healing to your sis.... take care, Sharon
Thank you all so much for your suggestions! I will get them to her ASAP! I know she HAS been using the Aquaphor, may be not enough/often enough? I will let her know about the others as well. The Dr has also just given her a Rx for a cream with lidocaine to help with the pain.

I'm halfway done also.
